Mirrormask

Writer Neil Gaiman and artist Dave McKean teamed up with the Jim Henson Company to make this imaginative fantasy film that borrows elements of Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz, mixes them up and ends up being quite boring despite the fantastic visual style and creativity on display. The story of a young girl who hates that her parents run a circus in London, but when her mother falls ill she enters a fantasy world of her own creation to find the cure and ends up maturing in the process. The acting and pacing sucks and it's akin to watching The Phantom Menace-- it looks real pretty but there's nothing there to see.
